  • Based in Orpington – with regular travel across Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich boroughs

Funded through a grant from National Mind, the Benefits Assessment Support Service will support claimants in Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich who have mental health issues to have the knowledge and confidence when attending their assessment to fully demonstrate the difficulties they experience in their daily lives.

We are looking for a Benefits Assessment Support Service Coordinator to work as part of a team to deliver this service. You will have knowledge of welfare benefits and the processes involved in applying for them and experience of working with volunteers and people with mental health problems.

You will train peer support volunteers to support people with mental health problems to prepare for and attend PIP, ESA and Universal Credit assessments as a one-off piece of work following referral from our benefits advice and mental health service teams.

Responsibilities include recruiting, inducting, training and managing volunteers to provide informed, person-centred and empowering support; managing the referral process; and recording, monitoring and reporting on the work completed.

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check
