The BLG Mind-led Peer Support in the Community Hub will work with existing or potential mental health and wellbeing peer support groups across the boroughs of Bromley, Lewisham, Greenwich, and other areas of South East London. The project is funded until 2021 and will facilitate the development of effective peer support provision.
What is Peer Support?
Peer Support involves people using their own experiences to help each other. It may be on a one-to-one basis, online or through a group. It may involve a range of activities such as art, walking, sport or meeting for coffee.
What the Peer Support in the Community Hub will do
The local Peer Support in the Community Hub will run free co-learning events, coaching, and networking events and can provide support to anyone who is:
- running a community group where mental health peer support takes place
- interested in setting up a peer support group and organisations who want to support people to run a peer support group.
The Hub will also be offering small grants to local peer support groups to help groups get off the ground or start new activities.
Who is it for?
The Peer Support in the Community Hub is open to all individuals and groups in Bromley, Lewisham, Greenwich, and some surrounding areas of South East London, working to run groups for the mental health and wellbeing of residents in these areas. We would particularly encourage contact from groups and individuals working with young African or Caribbean men or working to address poverty
