For the last year, our Mindful Mums project in Bromley has been providing volunteer-led groups for pregnant women and new mothers, to help them look after themselves during a life changing period of their lives, build resilience, confidence and social connections.
“A wonderfully warm and welcoming group! My first introduction to other mums! You’re all amazing!”
We have recently secured funding from the NHS Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group to deliver Mindful Mums in Bromley for a least another two years.
The funding will be used to set up more tailored Mindful Mums groups and courses across Bromley borough and to develop peer support befriending for pregnant women and new mums.
This is a real credit to the success of the project to date, which has seen 98% of attendees report increased confidence, and to the co-ordinator, Karen Taylor, and her team of volunteers.
“The ladies [leading the groups] were absolutely fantastic!!! They are skilled, patient, understanding and friendly.”
The success of Mindful Mums doesn’t stop there…
NHS Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group has awarded funding to take Mindful Mums into Lewisham.
“Really like the fact the group is led by people who had similar experiences who can understand and relate to the group. Very encouraging, honest and non-judgemental”
