Building Resilience for Schools, Young People and Parents

Mindkit Building Resilience for young people, schools and parents

Mindkit, a project led by Bromley & Lewisham Mind, has been hugely successful with trained volunteers with lived experience of mental health difficulties, introducing 14-25 year olds to resilience, mindful living and wellbeing.

To date, Mindkit has worked with over 10,000 young people across the London Boroughs of Bromley, Hackney, Harrow, Lewisham and Richmond.

Feedback from youth organisations, schools, colleges and young people collated over the last two years indicated that more support in the area of resilience and wellbeing is needed. In particular, secondary schools, colleges and students have acknowledged a growing need for a project like Mindkit and have asked for more training resources, and extra training and support for students, their parents and school staff.

Responding to this feedback as an opportunity to innovate, Bromley & Lewisham Mind has recruited Wendy Watts as a Schools Resilience Consultant and Trainer, to work in partnership with schools as part of a one-year pilot project.

Wendy will develop and embed greater resilience and wellbeing support across secondary schools in the London boroughs of Bromley and Lewisham. She will be listening to the needs and preferences of local schools to create a programme of tailored wellbeing and resilience training and support for staff, students and parents.

There is no financial cost for the schools involved.

If you are a secondary school in either Bromley or Lewisham boroughs and are interested in being part of this project, please contact Wendy Watts on 07889 730467 / 020 3409 5228 or email her using the form below:
