Mental Health Support for Pregnant and New Mums in Bromley

Earlier this week, the Prime Minister, David Cameron, announced availability of money to improve mental health services across the country including for pregnant women and new mums (also called perinatal mental health care).

20% of women develop mental health problems from the beginning of pregnancy to the first year after birth and many suffer in silence.

Bromley & Lewisham Mind will be launching a new service to prevent pregnant mums and new mums in the London Borough of Bromley from developing mental health problems during this high risk period.

We will be recruiting mums who have lived through their own perinatal mental health problems and will give them the confidence, knowledge, skills and support to run their own groups across Bromley’s Children and Family Centres. These groups will bring together pregnant and new mums (whether they have mental health problems or not) and equip them to look after their own mental wellbeing.

We will let you know more as we finalise details so keep an eye on this website, our Facebook page or Twitter feed for updates.
